Materials into Art

Most often my direction comes from the materials that I have chosen to build my image. Transforming the materials into the vision, inspired by my experiences and reference images, requires plenty of meditation. Before I even start with a physical attempt my mind is working on the story. In addition to material selection, there are hours of time spent researching and reading the subject of my creation.

I paint places that I have visited with my own eyes--nature woven together with fairy tales, myths and legends that I have researched. My mixed media ideas are brought to life by using repurposed materials and original technique.

I ask myself, how can I connect all these ideas, creating a timeless space in the present moment and at the same time try to conserve the earths resources?

I paint with acrylics, inks and oils ,intentionally, with thin layers using interesting materials. I pause often to question my visual decisions.

I want you to feel the sunset in your eyes and the texture of the tree on your skin; To connect your inside to nature outside. I want you to feel the story.
